Change Secure Shared Disks to With a device password and enter the password. Now move to the Disks Icon and the File Sharing tab. Change the Time Capsule name to something that makes sense, or follow your network standards. I should probably replace everything but we are moving house this year and would rather wait until we have done that before investing in new kit. The Laccie disk is already half full of stuff I put on it. In my Airport Utility app, it shows both disks. Maybe that's why the speeds are slow now via the old Time Capsule. I have an older Apple Time Capsule 2TB and I have a Laccie 6TB USB3.0 drive connected to it in 'safe 3TB' configuration. This older version of AirPort Utility is needed to configure older AirPort units (both AirPort Express and AirPort Extreme). Using the Launcher, it is possible to run AirPort Utility v5.6.1 under versions of OS X that would otherwise reject the application. It all looks fine doesn't it? Except it's very different to what I had before, where the white line came straight out of the Extreme to the old Time Capsule rather than going to the router. I have an ethernet cable plugged into that which goes to the other end of the house (which is 450 years old and has big thick walls which don't pass wifi) this is plugged into an older Airport TimeMachine (the flat white one). So, I reset the Time Capsule router to Apple Factory defaults and used Apple's AirPort Utility to erase its internal 3 TB drive. I have a router connected to the internet into which is plugged an AirPort Extreme (Tower).
